What is Drop-In class? Do I need to make a reservation in advance?

A “drop-in” class is designed for you to attend a music class whenever you want. You don’t need to commit to a certain class schedule or a semester.

Yes, you do need to make advance registration. Due to fire regulations, we can’t exceed a certain number of children in a class. The only way to make sure we are complying with these regulations and creating a fun, safe environment is to know who’s attending the class.

I bought a package – can I attend the classes in several locations or only at one location.

Our biggest advantage is our flexibility. We want to work with YOUR schedule; feel free to use your package at any of our NYC locations (unless otherwise restricted).

Which class is best for my child?

Each class, from newborns to those who are ready for more advanced musical training, is designed to be appropriate for your child’s current developmental level. In addition, our teachers take the time to tailor activities to best fit the makeup of each individual class. We’ve provided a description of each of our current classes under the “classes” page.

Can I leave my child alone at the class and come back at the end of the class?

No! Our classes are not drop-off classes. We require every child to have a caregiver (must be over 18 years old).

How do I know which teacher is teaching my class?

Go to the registration system: https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/ASP/home.asp?studioid=10924

and press on the “class” tab name on the top right and look for your class date, time and location.

You will see the teacher’s name next to your desired class.

Can babies truly benefit from Music Classes?

In one word: absolutely!

Studies around the world have proven that exposure to and participation in musical activities from birth (and even in the womb!) enhance development of motor-skills, language and meaning, coordination, memory, confidence and cooperation.

Have you ever noticed how toddlers love to dance when they hear anything with a good rhythm or a catchy melody? Or about how a newborn is transfixed when hearing a lullaby? Or, have you ever tried to learn something by singing it instead (try French verb conjugation to ‘Mary Had A Little Lamb’!). It’s all about the music!

As human beings, we are born with a natural understanding of music. No matter how musical we may become as adults, our understanding and appreciation of music starts from birth and, depending on how it is nurtured, grows from there. Giving young children an environment in which they can explore and learn with music provides them with a solid developmental foundation. Plus, making noise is so much fun!

What is your refund policy?

There is no refund for our drop-in classes.

Please read the following:

  • You will not get a refund if you bought a discounted or a promotion package.
  • You will not get a refund if we changed a teacher
  • You will not get a refund if we changed location and the new location is 0.5 mile or less then the previous location.
  • You will not get a refund if you didn’t use your classes by the expiration date.

What are your policies regarding cleanliness?

We have a no shoes policy in all our classes and we ask all children and caregivers to wear socks.

Our teachers clean all instruments before and after each class. We also ask parents to put aside any instruments that a child may have put in their mouth so the teacher can clean it carefully.

Our cleaning wipes are all natural and child friendly.

Why do the teacher’s rotate?

We feel it is important to rotate the teachers through the different classes to give your children a taste of different teaching styles. Since the drop-in music class program is not semester based, you are welcome to follow your “favorite” teacher as they move across our many locations or just enjoy the varied teaching styles in the locations and/or times of your choice!

Should I bring a blanket or a mat for my baby?

We usually don’t have carpets or mats in class due to dust allergies. We also would like to prevent children from slipping or tripping on the mats during class. You are, however, more than welcome to bring a blanket or a mat to class.

What is your inclement weather policy?

If the school district where your class is located is closed due to inclement weather, that means ABC Do-Re-ME! studios will be closed, unless you hear otherwise from your teacher. If the school district is running late, your ABC Do-Re-ME! studio will remain open, unless you hear otherwise from your teacher.

What type of music is taught in a class?

ABC Do-Re-ME! classes involve singing and listening to a variety of well known children music and original music!

Styles of music explored in classes will include: many types of classical music, jazz, blues, rock-n-roll, folk, funk, soul, and world…to name a few!

From Bach to the Beatles, Mozart to Miles Davis, Nursery Rhymes to Nelly Furtado, Stravinsky to The Shins: babies and toddlers love all sorts of music! By attending ABC Do-Re-ME! classes, your child will be exposed to a wide variety of music and musical styles from which to begin his/her musical education.

How long is a class?

The taught element of each class is 45 minutes. There is also time built in before and after the 45-minute teaching time to enable you and your fellow care-givers (and their children) to get to know each other, if you wish.

How many children are in a class?

There are a maximum of 10-15 children/class depending on which class and/or location.

Are there classes all year round or just during term time?

ABC Do-Re-ME! classes are offered all year round (with some time off for holidays every now and then)! Check our schedule on-line.

What age should I start bringing my child to ABC Do Re Me?

Learning and loving music can start at any age! Feel free to bring your child to the ABC Do-Re-ME! classes at any age from 6 months to 5 years.

Do you offer sibling discounts?

Yes, we offer 50% discount for 2nd child with any package purchase.

Babies under 6 months that attend class with their older sibling are free.

What’s your class cancelation policy?

We’ll need a cancelation notice at least an hour before class start.

If you don’t notify us about the cancelation, you will be charged for the class.

You will need to fill out your information and create a username and password.

To sign in for a class press on the class name tab on the top right, this will bring you the online schedule for this specific class.

Find the date, time and location you are interested in – you can use the arrows on the top to jump to through the weeks or you can enter the exact date on the top right.

After finding your desired class – press the “sign up now” button this will take you to the reservation details.

If you are attending the class with your child make sure that you make the reservation for yourself (press “myself” button).

Press “click here to make a single reservation” and you are all set.

If someone else is attending the class with your child – press “make a reservation for someone else”.

Enter the caregiver’s FULL Name and make sure the “pay for this other client” box is checked.

Click on “click here to make a single reservation” and you are all set.

How do I register my 2nd child online?

Repeat this for the 2nd child: press “make a reservation for someone else”.

Enter your 2st child’s FULL Name and make sure the “pay for this other client” box is checked.

Click on “click here to make a single reservation”.

How do I cancel a class online?

You can cancel a class online up to an hour before the class start time.

Go to “my info” on the top right and press on ‘my schedule”.

You will see all your scheduled classes – to cancel the class, simply press the cancel button and confirm you would like to cancel the class.

How do I access my online account / how do I see my account history online?

Go to our online registration system: https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/ASP/home.asp?studioid=10924

Go to “my info” on the top right.

Press “my account” to see your purchases, un-booked classes and your expiration date.

Press “my purchases” to see the purchase date, description and purchased price.

Press “my history” to see classes attended, date, time and teacher.

Press “my schedule” too see all upcoming classes you registered to – you can also cancel the class online in this option.

I’m on the waiting list – how would I know if I been added to class?

You will receive a confirmation email up to 2 hours before the class start.

If you receive a confirmation email and you can’t attend the class – please reply to the email and let us know.

If you didn’t receive a confirmation email, you can check your waiting list status online:

Please email us to info@abcdoremenyc.com and we’ll try to resolve it. In the meantime you can also register via phone or email.

I can’t remember my password – what should I do?

Go to our registration system and press “Click here for reminder” – the password will be sent to you via email.

If you didn’t create the account originally (the account was created by ABC do-Re-ME!) your password will NOT be sent to you.

Please email us to info@abcdoremenyc.com with your full name and we’ll reset your password for you.

I’m trying to register to a class by using my package but it asks me for my credit card information. What am I doing wrong?
